Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat® Articulated Trucks, currently producing a 6-model range used in many industries including mining, construction and aggregates.

The facility's manufacturing activities use the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and a state-of-the-art paint plant. Machines from the site are shipped to customers around the world.

Building Construction Products at Leicester is dedicated to the assembly of small construction machines, typically used on building and construction sites - Backhoe Loaders, Mini Hydraulic Excavators and Compact Wheel Loaders. Founded in 1952, Leicester was the first venture by Caterpillar, outside the United States. The Caterpillar Building Construction Products' fabrication facility at Stockton uses the latest technology to cut, weld and machine all the major structures for use at its assembly plant at Leicester.

Caterpillar Impact Products Ltd. (CIPL), based in Slough, is a product group with worldwide responsibility for machine-mounted hydraulic hammers. These hammers fit onto Mini Hydraulic Excavators, Skid Steer Loaders, Backhoe Loaders and Hydraulic Excavators.

CIPL was formed in 1997 as a joint venture between Caterpillar Inc. and Sandvik AB of Sweden, and has staff in six countries outside the UK.

Caterpillar has been providing remanufacturing services in Shrewsbury for more than 20 years. Using a host of remanufacturing technologies, the facility receives engines and a range of other components from customers, and cleans, refurbishes, reassembles and updates them in compliance with the exacting standards set by Caterpillar. The site remanufactures thousands of items each year, bringing significant environmental and cost benefits to Caterpillar and third-party customers.

Founded in 1966, Caterpillar (NI) Limited is Europe's largest diesel generating set manufacturer.

The company is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of diesel generator sets and provider of power generating solutions. In recent years, Caterpillar Northern Ireland has diversified its product portfolio and also produces major component subassemblies including axles and transmissions for Cat® articulated trucks for operations within the UK and Europe. Formerly known as FG Wilson, the business was acquired by Caterpillar in 1999 and is now an integral part of Caterpillar, and host to multiple divisions that operate on our sites.

The company has three sites in Northern Ireland. The manufacturing facility located in Larne is home to the Electric Power generator business where the primary focus is in the design, manufacture, sale and support of quality standard and customized generator sets as well as bespoke associated equipment that provide reliable electric power around the world. The manufacturing facility in Springvale, Belfast is home to the Axles and Transmissions business, and this facility is augmented by a Shared Services center also located in the Springvale Business Park that provides administrative support for the local business as well as for other Caterpillar European entities.

Formed in 1932, Perkins Engines is now a leading supplier of off-highway diesel and gas engines in the 5 - 250 (5 - 2,600) hp market, with a significant presence in the electric power segment up to 2,600 hp. The Peterborough site produces engines for the agricultural, materials handling, general industrial, and construction and power generation sectors. The Stafford site specialises in diesel and gas engines for the power generation market. Caterpillar Marine Power UK Ltd. formerly the Wimborne Marine Power Centre, originally manufactured and marketed Perkins Sabre and Perkins Marine Engines, was acquired in 2000 by Caterpillar Inc and is part of Caterpillar Marine. In 2017 new upgraded facilities on the original Wimborne site were opened including new administration buildings, design centre and world-class manufacturing and logistics facilities. Today the business designs, manufactures and sell propulsion engines, auxiliary diesel engines and diesel electrical generators; exclusively for marine applications under the Cat® and Perkins Marine® brands. The products manufactured here are used in oceangoing (cruise and cargo), high performance (pleasure craft, Government, Defense and fast ferry) and workboat (offshore, tug and salvage, passenger, inland waterways, fishing and dredging) applications.

Caterpillar Wolverhampton, originally Turner Powertrain Systems, founded in 1859, was purchased by Caterpillar Inc in 1996. The business is part of the Advanced Components and Systems Division of Caterpillar. The company's manufacturing output has, at various times, included cars, tractors, diesel engines and aircraft landing gear, although in recent decades, it has focused on transmissions.

Caterpillar Wolverhampton is a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, sales and support of off-highway transmissions (50 kW / 67 hp to 135 kW / 180 hp) for Backhoe Loaders, Telescopic Material Handlers, Wheel Loaders and 4-9 tonne Site Dumpers, and a supplier of components to other transmission manufacturers.

Progress Rail Services UK Ltd was acquired by Progress Rail Services Corporation (a subsidiary of Caterpillar) in May 2011; the business which incorporates the former Edgar Allen business can trace its origins to the 1850's and the birth of the rail industry. The business operates from five sites in the UK; Sandiacre and Beeston (both on the outskirts of Nottingham), Sheffield, Darlington and South Queensferry (Scotland). The business is a designer and manufacturer of special trackwork and ancillary rail infrastructure products for the UK and international rail markets providing products into all market sectors including light rail systems, mainline railways and heavy haul/freight lines. The business has production capability that includes a cast manganese steel foundry, an iron foundry, specialist rail machining facilities, a steel fabrication facility and an assembly facility capable of assembling large special track work panels.

Caterpillar Skinningrove is located near Teesside and began operations in 1997. The facility, part of the Remanufacturing and Components Division, produces steel track shoes. When mounted on the track link assembly, the track shoes form the 'Cat track' found on Hydraulic Excavators, Track Type Loaders and Track Type Tractors. The operations include steel cutting, heat treatment, and painting and cover an area of approximately 5,000 square metres.
