Celebrating Our People

The story of Caterpillar is a story best told through people.

Holt and Best, our founding fathers, were pioneers who sought new ways to make hard work faster, simpler and more efficient. They lit a torch of innovation — and inspired a culture that puts customer needs first — that’s been passed on from one Caterpillar generation to the next.

Today, more than 100,000 employees, spread across 65 countries and speaking 84 languages, stand united by a common purpose: to build a better, more sustainable world. You can count on us to carry our predecessors’ legacy — of creativity, collaboration and commitment to excellence — into the next 100 years.

Women on a Mission

In the early 1900s and well into the 20th century, many considered the business of heavy equipment a man’s territory. Not Caterpillar. As far back as 1885, the “Bloomer Girls” took the controls of a Holt combine — and female trailblazers have been helping drive our success ever since. We believe bringing people of diverse experiences, backgrounds and cultures together is the best way to create solutions that deliver results for our customers, today and tomorrow.
