Derrick York is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the Caterpillar Oil & Gas and Marine Division (COGMD). This division has worldwide responsibility for service offerings for the oil and gas and marine industries. This global organization includes sales and product support of engines in the oil and gas industry; manufacturing, sales and product support of pressure pumping solutions for the oil and gas industry; sales and product support of medium and high-speed marine engines, generator sets and auxiliary engines. The oil & gas and marine portfolio includes Cat®, SPM Oil & Gas and MaK branded products which are distributed and supported through a global network of Cat and MaK dealers and direct to end customers through SPM Oil & Gas distribution centers and OEMs.
Prior to this role, Derrick served as general manager of Caterpillar Marine, leading the Cat brand marine business through a strategy change, re-alignment to the corporate strategy and an execution plan that brings Caterpillar closer to marine customers. Derrick gained broad Caterpillar exposure across various business units as group chief financial officer within the Services, Distribution and Digital division. In addition, he was the director of corporate development, leading the Caterpillar mergers & acquisitions and corporate strategy team. Prior to joining Caterpillar in 2010, Derrick held progressive commercial and service-related leadership roles in private equity, investment banking and public accounting at Macquarie Capital's Principal Transactions Group, Giuliani Capital Advisors and KPMG.
Derrick has a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management.
