John Tuntland is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for the Integrated Components Division. In this role, he provides global leadership for the design and manufacturing of components used across the Caterpillar portfolio.
Since joining Caterpillar in 2001, Tuntland has held various roles with increasing responsibility in engineering, commercial and marketing, product management and operations. He has gained extensive international experience through multiple assignments in Asia and global operations leadership. Prior to his current role, John was vice president of the Resource Industries Operations team, which manufactures Caterpillar’s prime product mining machines at global facilities specializing in assembly, fabrication, engineering, quality, safety, and supply chain operations.
Tuntland graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering and earned an MBA from Benedictine University in 2003. He also brings extensive entrepreneurial and leadership experience from outside the organization, including his ownership and operation of Tuntland Farms in northern Illinois.
