Corporate Direct Giving & Social Impact

Established in 2022, the Caterpillar Social Impact Fund supports charitable projects that align with our company’s strategy. Caterpillar contributes funding directly to charitable organizations on a project-by-project basis, which can vary by industry, and engages our employees and leaders in the philanthropic process.

Caterpillar Building the Future Workforce Initiative

Caterpillar pledged $100 million over five years to help equip the workforce of the future with the tech-forward skills needed for tomorrow’s advanced manufacturing jobs. Since that announcement, we’ve taken steps toward our pledge, selecting the state of Indiana to receive funding to train and upskill workers, and launching a $25 million innovation challenge.

Programs funded by the Caterpillar Social Impact Fund include:

Caterpillar Electrification Initiative

In 2023, Caterpillar launched the Electrification Initiative in Nagaland, India, with a clear purpose: to bring clean, reliable energy to rural areas, leveraging Caterpillar’s expertise and technology. Led by international NGO Assist International and supported by various local developers and Cat® dealers, the initiative has now grown to serve communities across the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

The AED Foundation VISION Program

Caterpillar supports the Associate Equipment Distributors (AED) Foundation to help address the technician shortage within the equipment distribution industry and close the current skills gap. Our funding helps increase the AED Foundation’s capacity to recognize high school programs and accredit college programs. Since the first grant in 2024, AED Foundation has added 118 Recognized High School programs, bringing our total impact to 129 programs. With additional support from Caterpillar, AED Foundation anticipates adding 71 Recognized Programs by 2027.

Alvernia University

Caterpillar works with Alvernia University’s Total Experience Learning® (TExpL®) Institute to expand high-quality STEM education and educator development. This two-year initiative collaborates with local school districts in Pennsylvania to address two critical challenges affecting workforce readiness: declining student proficiency in foundational STEM skills and the shortage of qualified educators. The program is expected to directly serve more than 9,200 students and educators and indirectly benefit more than 18,000 family and community members, contributing to improved school stability, workforce readiness, and regional economic vitality.
