Caterpillar Foundation Provides Recovery Support for Nepal Floods

In response to the catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal, the Caterpillar Foundation is collaborating with Myriad USA to make a $250,000 donation to Group for Technical Assistance (GTA), a trusted local organization in Nepal, to support its ongoing emergency relief and recovery efforts in communities affected by the recent flooding.

GTA is actively on the ground providing food, clothing, bedding, WASH supplies, cash assistance and other essential supplies to families at displacement holding centers across Kathmandu and the Nuwakot District. To date, GTA has provided relief to approximately 300 displaced people and plans to reach additional households through the Foundation’s donation.

“We are devastated to see the widespread destruction of the flooding in Nepal, which has claimed lives and displaced thousands of families,” said Asha Varghese, President of the Caterpillar Foundation. “The loss and disruption caused by disasters of this magnitude require sustained support from many collaborators. The Caterpillar Foundation is committed to supporting communities during times of disaster, and this donation will help provide urgent, critical relief as the growing impacts continue to rise.”

In addition to this donation, the Foundation is a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). The annual investment helps the Red Cross preposition supplies before a disaster strikes and provides emergency response after a crisis occurs.

The Caterpillar Foundation’s commitment also extends to Red Cross International Services, helping offer hope and comfort to communities around the world. These vital funds support coordinating with the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network to prepare for and respond to emergencies wherever and whenever they occur. Currently, the global Red Cross network is on the ground in Nepal, supporting efforts following the flash floods.
