The Model 20

The Model Twenty was the first product designed and built by Caterpillar that was not a carryover from Holt or Best.

It was introduced in 1927 in San Leandro, California then began production in East Peoria a year later.

Harmon Eberhard, an engineer for Holt and later became President and Chairman of Caterpillar, helped design the Twenty.

Check out this feature in an advertising booklet from 1931; customer testimonials for the Caterpillar Ten on top and the Model Twenty on the bottom.
