Robert Strong

Robert Strong is senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for the Earthmoving Division. He has worldwide design, manufacturing and P&L responsibility for medium tractor products, motor graders, medium wheel loaders, paving products, and SEM-branded product lines.

Strong joined Caterpillar in 1998 as a design engineer. His 27-year career has taken him around the world, having served in leadership roles in Brazil, China and the U.S. He has a diverse background with experiences as procurement director, general manager, worldwide product manager (motor graders), district manager, manufacturing director, and supply chain director. His leadership experience in multiple divisions such as Earthmoving, Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD), and Energy & Transportation has broadened his product and process experience.

Strong is a graduate of Millikin University (MBA), University of Illinois (MSME), and North Dakota State University (BSME). He has also completed APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) (2013), 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification (2003) and Engineer in Training (1998).

Strong is a member of World50 Group, a private community of leaders from globally respected organizations to collaborate and build relationships with peers. He currently serves on the board of directors for Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), National FFA Foundation, Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies LLC and Heart of Illinois United Way.
