Jamie L. Engstrom is chief information officer (CIO) and a Caterpillar Inc. senior vice president responsible for Information Technology (IT). In this position, she leads a team responsible for Caterpillar’s global IT systems, architecture and data governance, IT risk management, cybersecurity, global infrastructure and IT transformations. cybersecurity, global infrastructure and IT transformations. She provides leadership to the industry group CIOs to align the IT strategy to the business. Jamie also facilitates the enterprise IT Council that governs the enterprise IT strategy in collaboration with business unit senior vice presidents.
Prior to her current appointment, Engstrom was the CIO for the company’s Financial Products Division.
Engstrom joined Caterpillar in May 1999 and has held positions across procurement and IT. Her extensive background in IT includes global leadership for large-scale systems transformations, cybersecurity, cloud and application management, global data center management, worldwide network, servers and storage, database management and end-user services.
Engstrom earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Illinois State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Bradley University. She completed the Women’s Executive Leadership Program through the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Jamie is a member of World 50, a private community for CEOs and C-level executives at globally respected organizations, Chief Information Officer Strategy Exchange (CIOSE), the Gartner CIO Research Board and Women in Technology of Tennessee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Nashville Humane Society and Easterseals. She was awarded the Ones to Watch Award in 2018 from the CIO Executive Council and CIO of the Year in 2025 by the Nashville Technology Council.
