Brent A. Uitermarkt

Brent Uitermarkt is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc. responsible for the Excavation Division. In this role, he provides global leadership for the design and manufacture of tracked and wheeled excavators ranging in size from 11 to 101 metric tons, as well as Cat® Work Tools, material handlers, and forestry machines. He also leads the adoption and integration of advanced technologies across the full excavation product line to support customer productivity, quality, and long‑term value.

Since joining Caterpillar in 2000, Uitermarkt’s career has spanned a wide range of functions and geographical regions. He has held leadership roles within five different machine product groups, sales, and manufacturing operations. This work has spanned the globe, with positions in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. This breadth of experience has given him a deep understanding of Caterpillar customers, products, dealers, and global operations. Prior to his current role, Uitermarkt held multiple vice president roles within the Excavation and Earthmoving divisions in Construction Industries.

Uitermarkt holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Iowa State University. He also completed Caterpillar’s Executive Leadership Development program in partnership with Duke University.
