Alan Yang is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the China Operations Division.
Yang has over 30 years of experience in the construction machinery industry. He joined Caterpillar in 1998 as deputy general manager for Caterpillar (Xuzhou) Ltd. (CXL). Since then, he has held a range of human resources management, 6 Sigma project management and Lean manufacturing positions in CXL, Caterpillar headquarters and the East Peoria facility with increasing business scope and responsibility. Yang was named general manager for AsiaTrak (Tianjin) Ltd. in 2008 and became general manager for CXL in 2013. He moved to Victoria, Texas as general manager for the Victoria facility from 2019 through 2021 prior to his appointment as vice president of operations for Excavation Division. In 2022, the Caterpillar Board of Directors named Yang senior vice president with responsibility for China Operations Division.
Born in China’s Jiangsu province, Yang graduated from Shenyang University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in welding engineering. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and completed the executive programs at Stanford University and Duke University.
