Helping Build a Zero-Emission Mine

June 23, 2021

At Caterpillar, we view the world through the eyes of our customers. Their success is ours. So as customers embark on distinct journeys to reduce emissions, we are there to support them with integrated solutions that fit. Customer by customer. Job site by job site.

We are proud to announce our collaboration with mining customer Nouveau Monde Graphite (NMG) to support their goal of fully powering their Matawinie graphite mine with zero-emission machines by 2028. Caterpillar will be the exclusive equipment, technology and services provider – developing, testing and producing Cat® “zero-emission machines” for the project in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, Québec, Canada. Read the full press release from NMG.

Zero-Emission Mine

Blazing the Trail

This trailblazing project to provide an all-electric mining fleet spans Caterpillar’s entire enterprise, requiring a holistic approach involving machines, solutions and technologies. It’s an important milestone for Caterpillar and the entire mining industry.

RI Group President Denise Johnson said, “The collaboration between Caterpillar and Nouveau Monde marks an important milestone in the mining industry. Through integrated technology, machines and services, the entire Caterpillar team is proud to support Nouveau Monde as they work towards constructing and establishing their first zero-emission mine.”

In keeping with our intense customer focus, Caterpillar will engage with the NMG team to incorporate voice of the customer throughout the development and testing prior to commercial production.
