Caterpillar Ventures recently committed to invest in Energy Ventures Private Equity V LP (Energy Ventures).  Energy Ventures focuses on investing in the early to mid-stage growth companies in North America and Europe that offer products and services to lower costs and increase productivity in the upstream oil and gas sector.  The investment will provide Caterpillar with additional visibility to the technology innovation in the oil and gas space.
