Rod Shurman is a senior vice president of Caterpillar Inc., responsible for the Building Construction Products (BCP) Division. This role provides global leadership, including the design, operations, procurement, sales, marketing, and product support of Caterpillar’s compact, versatile construction machines and attachments business.
Shurman previously served as vice president of Electrification and Energy Solutions, overseeing the company’s efforts to deliver advanced electrified powertrain and zero exhaust emission products and technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these products and technologies.
Shurman joined Caterpillar in 1997 and has held several positions of increasing responsibility in engineering, service and operations functions including product manager for the Cat 3500 engine platform, general manager and then senior vice president of Caterpillar’s oil and gas business. His commercial experience includes direct customer engagement and dealer distribution management. Prior to joining Caterpillar, Shurman worked for Cummins Inc. with a focus on engineering and service delivery.
Shurman graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He completed Caterpillar’s flagship executive leadership program, Powering the Future, conducted by Stanford University.
