Model Sixty Track-Type Tractor

1925

Developed by C.L. Best in 1919 as the Best 60 Tracklayer, this iconic machine was renamed the Caterpillar Model Sixty Track-Type Tractor after the 1925 merger. Its design is still a core element of Caterpillar’s dozers today, showing the longevity and endurance of Caterpillar’s innovations.

Despite the huge success of the Model Sixty, C.L. Best remained humble. When asked about its legacy, Best replied, “Don’t ask me, I am no braggart.”
