Howard O. Lorenzen, a T-AGM 25 Missile Range Instrumentation ship. The Lorenzen is powered by 4x MaK 12 M 32 C diesel electric propulsion (DEP) engines, delivering 5.5 megawatts of rated power each. The Lorenzen also has 1x Cat C32 diesel generator set onboard to provide emergency power. In addition to being the largest Cat engines ever installed on a United States governmental vessel, the MaK power solutions are also largest Cat engines ever delivered to any United States government or military branch. The engine is currently being tested at Caterpillar’s medium-speed engine facility in Rostock, Germany. First engine deliveries are foreseen for 2014.
