The Global Regulatory Environment

Caterpillar is active in the global product standards and regulations dialogue. We participate with standards developing organizations such as ISO (International Organization for Standardization), SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) and CEN (European Committee for Standardization), as well as governmental regulating agencies globally to inform standard-setting bodies and regulators and to encourage free product flow across borders.  Reasonable product standards or regulations that are accepted globally enable Caterpillar to develop and sell products into all market areas that meet customer expectations for performance while being environmentally friendly and safe to own and operate.

Our long term goal is global harmonization of product standards or regulations so that product design is driven by customer value rather than legal requirements.
