This isn't your average museum! Your visit begins with a virtual ride in the bed of a massive two-and-a-half story Cat 797F Mining Truck. Learn how Caterpillar's story began as two companies came together to build Caterpillar on the foundation of innovation and customer focus. Unleash your inner engineer as you design your very own Cat machine. Test your skills on a simulator to see first-hand what it's like to operate equipment the way our operators do, and no visit is complete without climbing in a track-type tractor.
Future engineers, scientists, and kids of all ages are invited to Engineering Day 2026 at the Caterpillar Visitors Center and the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
The Caterpillar Visitors Center and the Peoria Riverfront Museum will be buzzing with the added excitement of hands-on STEM activities provided by local engineering groups. These activities offer a variety of opportunities for children to spark an interest in engineering and have fun. Complete the scavenger hunt and pick a prize (while supplies last)!
Caterpillar will host a series of informational sessions highlighting careers in engineering, plus 1-on-1 sessions with a Caterpillar professional to help interested high school students with their resume and interviewing skills.
General sessions about beginning a career in engineering and life at Caterpillar will be available at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. These sessions will also cover STEM opportunities and ways students can get involved in activities and projects that will help them prepare for a future in engineering.
1-on-1 resume reviews are available for students in grades 10-12. This is a great opportunity to receive interviewing tips and feedback on your already prepared resume.
