Ed Rapp is a group president and executive office member of Caterpillar Inc. and is located in Singapore. Rapp has administrative responsibility for Construction Industries, which includes the Earthmoving, Excavation, Building Construction Products, China Operations, Europe/South America Operations and the Global Construction & Infrastructure Divisions.
Since joining Caterpillar as a pricing analyst in 1979, Rapp has held positions related to pricing, production scheduling, marketing, dealer development, manufacturing and product development. In 1987, he transferred to the North American Commercial Division where he held positions in planning support and as district manager of the San Francisco district. He later transferred to Johannesburg, South Africa, as area manager and then on to Geneva, Switzerland, where he was the department manager in the Building Construction Products (BCP) Division and Europe region manager. In 2000, Rapp became an officer of Caterpillar as the vice president of the Europe-Africa-Middle East (EAME) Marketing Division. In 2004, Rapp was named vice president of Caterpillar's BCP Division, based in Cary, N.C. He was named group president in 2007 and CFO in 2010.
Rapp has a Bachelor of Arts degree in finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a graduate of the University of Illinois Executive Development program.
He is a member of the board of directors of Abbvie, FMGlobal and the Junior Achievement (J.A.) USA. Rapp also represents the U.S. on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and the United States-China Business Council, Inc. (USCBC). He is also a member of the University of Missouri College of Business Strategic Development Board.
