International Women's Day

Women at Caterpillar

Our success depends on having the top talent, and gender balance in the workplace is an important way we will build the best team possible. The increased complexity of our business challenges demands that we have the right talent in the right place at the right time. Research even shows that companies that achieve gender balance, especially at leadership levels, yield more positive results. This issue matters to both men and women and is essential to the fulfillment of our company’s values on a global scale. When women play a vital role at Caterpillar, the whole company wins.

International Women’s Day

At Caterpillar, we believe each person is unique and valued. We recognize what it means to celebrate the people who do what it takes to move our world forward. Different perspectives help us achieve our best work and make positive change in our communities. That’s the Power of Everyone.

We are honored to participate in the International Women’s Day campaign alongside many other companies worldwide – celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The Power of Everyone is rooted in the belief that our individual actions and mindsets as Caterpillar employees, customers, and dealers impact the success of our entire organization and the industries we serve. Collectively, we can make big change happen.

With this year’s campaign, we ask you to maintain a gender equal mindset and help create positive visibility for women in our traditionally male-dominated industries. Share the #PowerofEveryone by celebrating women’s achievements in construction, mining, agriculture, landscaping, paving, technology, government, and so on. Not only would we love to see hear your stories through the IWD challenge, but we also greatly value the impact you have on your industry.

Are you ready to take the challenge with us?

  1. Draft a personal story about a female colleague who inspires, leads or supports OR men as an ally
  2. Post on the story on your social network of choice and tag Caterpillar and #iAmCaterpillar
  3. Nominate three colleagues to share their stories of the exceptional women at work in Caterpillar

We can build a gender-balanced world together. That’s the Power of Everyone.

Meet the Women

A Successful Career Driven by a Network of Diverse Colleagues, Customers and Mentors

Kristin Gaskill has leveraged her diverse network to encourage her to take changes and step outside of her comfort zone. This encouragement ultimately led to her involvement of co-chairing Caterpillar’s annual Women in Leadership Conference.

Be Confident. Be Yourself. Do Not Limit Your Ability to Succeed.

Yanchai Zhang is committed to driving new ideas and innovations at Caterpillar, and believes her confidence in herself and her own capabilities is what has ultimately driven the success in her career.

Women in Leadership is our intentional, focused step on a continuous journey towards impacting gender balance. We are encouraging global changes in staff and executive talent, helping our female employees — and Caterpillar — be competitively positioned for the future. There are three main areas of focus in order to drive this crucial change:

We are vocal in our support of women inspiring great ideas and innovation. That means we properly recognize and celebrate women who are getting results.

We ensure women are given fair access to career development and leadership opportunities, and encourage more women to join our company’s work.

We actively shape policies and procedures to better support and inspire women to start or continue their employment with us. Our Women’s Initiative Network is just one of many groups focused on this effort.
