1. Why did you pick the University of Iowa?
Iowa City offers a small college town environment with academics and extracurricular opportunities associated with a Big Ten experience. The College of Engineering offers smaller classes with access to technology with well rounded electives from humanities, business, and other colleges.

2. Why did you select Caterpillar as an employer?
I chose to work for Caterpillar because of the significant investment made in my career training right out of the box with the Marketing Training Program. International travel opportunities, technical training, networking and long term company growth all added up to an outstanding career opportunity in Technical Marketing.

3. What was the highlight of your Caterpillar experience so far?
Exposure to customers and Caterpillar distributors from all over the United States and the world has given me a strong foundational knowledge of how our products are making sustainable progress possible around the world. The three years I spent as an Electric Power Sales Representative for South America afforded me an opportunity to meet people and experience cultures that I otherwise would not have had the opportunity to experience.

4. What is a typical workday like for you?
As a Global Marketing Consultant, I work internally and with suppliers to maintain our division's online and offline communications, websites, trade magazines, sales lead generation, social media, new product launch events, and more. Office hours are spent with meetings across global sales organizations, strategic planning with management, trade event planning with suppliers and occasional site visits to customers and business partners.

5. What do you like about living in Lafayette, IN?
I like the proximity to Purdue University, the great schools for my family and myself, and the Midwestern friendliness.

6. What are you looking forward to about working for Caterpillar in the long-term?
I am looking forward to bigger responsibilities and opportunities that will enable me to exercise my leadership skills. I am also looking forward to opportunities to visit new markets and countries in support of a comprehensive global product and sales strategy.

7. What would you say to someone considering employment with Caterpillar?
Our company is not a company of engineering, sales, accounting, logistics, or manufacturing…rather our company's purpose is to develop the roads, buildings, bridges, electric power, pipelines, and natural resources that are making economic prosperity possible in economies around the world. You can be proud to come to work every day knowing Caterpillar's purpose and mission.
