Title of ‘2013 Best Employer’ given to Caterpillar China

Caterpillar China was recognized as the "2013 Best Employer" during the sixth China CSR Summit held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on January 17. This is the first time such a special award was granted to a Multi-national Corporation operating in China.

Organized by the Xinhua Net, the online portal of China's State-Run Xinhua News Agency, the China CSR Summit is also endorsed by central government agencies. The summit was attended by senior government officials, including Chen Gang, vice minister of General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, who called for more attention from the business circle to fulfill their social responsibilities.

The CSR Summit highly recognized Caterpillar's commitment of being a responsible corporate citizen in China and Caterpillar's focus on safety, people development, community engagement and more.

"Caterpillar respects the unique background and experience of every employee, and Caterpillar provides opportunities globally for its employees to learn, grow and witness their career development path," noted the Summit organizer.

James Yang, Caterpillar Asia Pacific human services director, was invited to accept the "2013 Best Employer" award.

"As a global leader in manufacturing, Caterpillar has lived by Our Values in Action-- Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork and Commitment. We are committed to building up an inclusive workplace for our diversified employees to achieve their career goals," said Yang. "Caterpillar has been in China for nearly 40 years, and has played a positive role in supporting China's infrastructure development, energy production and resources utilization. We continue to promote sustainable development in China, and act as a responsible contributing local citizen."

Yang took a brief interview with Xinhua Net to elaborate Caterpillar's CSR initiatives as well as our people strategy in China.
