Middle East Electricity (MEE) is an annual exhibition which focuses on the power industry in an area of the world where the demand for electric power continually outpaces the supply. Held at the Dubai International Convention Center, it draws visitors from all over the Middle East.
MEE 2013, February 17-19, 2013, gave local Cat dealer Al Bahar and the Caterpillar EAME team an opportunity to present an exhibit with a lineup of Cat on-site power products that included a C175-20 generator set, a C15 generator set in an enclosure with cooling for ambient conditions up to 50oC (122oF), a 500 kVA double-conversion battery UPS, a GEP110 generator set, a GEP 13.5 generator set and a high-efficiency hybrid power system that combines solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays, wind turbines, long-life batteries, a generator set and highly efficient power electronics.
An estimated 1,800 customers and consultants visited the Al Bahar/Cat exhibit and were able to admire our electric power products while reconnecting with their dealer contacts. The visitors included H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, who is sponsoring one of the most progressive moves toward electrification in the region.
The biggest draw at the Al Bahar/Cat exhibit was the recently-introduced C175-20 generator set for which Al Bahar has already received four orders. At a Standby rating of 4,000 kVA at 50 Hz, the C175-20 produces the largest power output of any single high-speed diesel generator set available on the market. This high power density is a key benefit for standby power at large, mission-critical installations where space as well as reliability, durability and dependability are essential.
