Caterpillar Celebrates Grand Opening of Remanufacturing Facility in South America

A parade of local and state government authorities, press, dealers, customers and employees were on hand for what's being called an "incredible milestone" for Reman, Components and Work Tools (RWCT): the grand opening of a new remanufacturing and hydraulic hose facility in Piracicaba, Brazil on November 6.

"As our division's first facility in South America and 18th remanufacturing facility worldwide, this marks an exciting expansion for our business," said RCWT Vice President Greg Folley.

The new factory will remanufacture engine components and assemble hydraulic hoses. These two operations will employ roughly 80 operational, technical and administrative positions. The remanufacturing operation is also a pioneer in the region.

"Remanufacturing is one of Caterpillar's most important contributions to sustainable development, as we will extend the life of non-renewable resources", said Luiz Carlos Calil, president of Caterpillar Brasil. "The Reman process is very important for the environment as it returns previously used components to a condition equal to or better than the original products."

"In addition to remanufacturing, we are also excited to bring our industry-leading hose and coupling assembly business to the facility as well," said Folley. "I look forward to the endless possibilities this expansion means for our division, our company as a whole, and for our outstanding team in Brazil."
