Best Practices, Trends Highlighted at North American Dealer Marketing Conference

Americas Distribution Services Division's (ADSD) Growth Services' team recently returned from another successful North American Dealer Marketing Conference. Throughout the last 10 years, Growth Services (GS) has partnered with the North American Dealer Marketing Association Board of Directors to host a three day conference (September 30-October 2) to showcase best practices, trends and other information vital to the Cat® dealer marketing community.

This year's event, held in New Orleans, highlighted dealer marketing capabilities in a variety of areas, including: data analytics, ebusiness, the DIM segment, "Project Deliver" and other initiatives important to Caterpillar and the Cat dealer network. The nearly 340 participants was also treated to inspiring and thought-provoking presentations from OCEARCH's Chris Fischer and Dirty Jobs' Mike Rowe - both of whom stressed the importance of education and job skills development.

During the conference, Caterpillar hosted the sixth annual North American Dealer Marketing Awards ceremony. The purpose of the awards program is to give recognition to dealer marketing teams who demonstrate elite performance in the development and execution of marketing initiatives. Entries were judged through a new process, which included a rigid point system and feedback from two judges per category. One judge was a third party representative, while the other was a Caterpillar subject matter expert. Judging was based on strategy, execution, metrics and overall results.

This year, 45 dealers from the U.S. and Canada participated - an increase of four from 2012. There were a total of 165 total entries between the nine different categories. The categories are strategically aligned to marketing processes and functions critical to the dealers' business objectives.

The winners' and finalists' award entries and a catalog of all entry descriptions are available at dealer.cat.com/namarketingawards.
