Caterpillar Brasil welcomes record number of visitors during the World Cup

From mid-June until mid-July, the country of Brazil hosted the largest sporting event in the world. The Copa Do Mundo (World Cup Soccer Tournament) brought national teams from 32 different countries to 12 different cities around Brazil for 64 games. These games culminated with the championship game on July 13 between Germany and Argentina, won by Germany in overtime 1-0.

The World Cup turned Caterpillar Brasil in Piracicaba into a very busy place as 348 customers and dealers from 43 countries visited as part of their trip to the country. This was a record number of visitors in such a short time.

Visitor Services at Piracicaba prepared a customized program that leveraged the participation of Caterpillar Brazil and many volunteers to help visitors learn about the history and guide the visitors through the Piracicaba facility.  Participants visited the machines assembly lines, Parts Distribution Center and Power System operation. After touring these areas, the groups witnessed a machine product line demonstration. There, the guests could experience the applications and features of all products assembled in Brazil (Piracicaba and Campo Largo facilities): motor graders, small and medium wheel loaders, track-type tractors, compactors, hydraulic excavators and backhoe loaders.

Among the 43 countries, the largest number of visitors was from Germany and Latin America. Many of them had never visited Brazil before and this was a great opportunity for them to learn more about the country while getting excited about Cat® products.

"The precision in the factory with more than 5,000 employees and the powerful machines and emotions by specifically selected (German) music during an amazing and impressive demo – now our salesmen are even more motivated to sell Cat products and solutions,” said Fred Cordes of Zeppelin Baumaschinen GmbH Group.
