This week, nine of the world’s most talented equipment operators gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Cat® Global Operator Challenge Finals — an epic conclusion to a competition that began with more than 10,000 entrants from 30 countries taking part in local dealer events. See who was named best of the best …You’ve never seen a show like this.
The finals for the Operator Challenge – the largest global marketing campaign in Caterpillar history – took place on the first day of CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The theme of this year’s show is YOUR WORK MATTERS, celebrating operators and the people who build the world’s infrastructure.
Emerging from fierce regional battles, the final nine faced off in Operator Stadium – an over 60,000 square foot venue featuring a machine demonstration arena, technology and services hubs, a retail building and static displays with small and large construction machines and paving equipment.
So who are these guys? The competitors came from all corners of the world – the United States, Canada, Mexico, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland, Japan and the Philippines.
To put their skills to the test, the operators ran three machines – a Cat wheel loader, a Cat excavator and a Cat NextGen mini excavator in a series of skills challenges: load and carry, trenching and a golf tee challenge, using the mini excavator to “tee off” a golf ball, navigate a course and place the ball in the hole.
