THE HOTTEST JOBS ON THE MARKET: DATA SCIENCE AND ANALYTICS

What could attract nearly 100 students on a cold January night in downtown Chicago from the warmth of their apartments and cozy coffee shops? 

You might be guessing deep dish pizza and cold beer, right? Nope, it was an information session with Caterpillar employees discussing the hottest jobs on the market right now.

Careers in Data Science and Analytics were the topic of discussion in Chicago last week, as a team of employees engaged with students from the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois Chicago.

Despite a tough business environment right now, demand for analytic talent and expertise remains in high demand. As such, telling our story of how Caterpillar is turning data into dollars and ways we are providing customer solutions through data analytics, predictive modeling and machine learning applications is a big draw to students seeking meaningful internship experiences and future employment opportunities upon graduation.

Did you know that we have several Analytics internship openings for summer 2017? We need your help spreading the word. Here's some detail on what we’re looking for:

  • Pursuing a BS undergraduate, or MBA, MS or PhD degree in Actuarial Science, Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Engineering (various), Computer Science, Economics, Informatics, Information Systems Management, Marketing Analytics, Mathematics, MBA with Technical Undergrad, Operations Research, Predictive Analytics, Quantitative & Computational Finance,  Quantitative Finance, Statistics, or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student
  • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 scale (no rounding)
  • Experience with SAS, Python, R, SPSS, Minitab, Tableau, Hadoop, C++, C#, Java or similar tools
