San Luis Potosi becomes sixth parts distribution center in the Cat® Parts Network Transformation

Achieving a world class supply chain vision requires a flexible, customer-centric network that delivers the highest value with the greatest velocity and lowest cost.  The Cat Parts Network Transformation encompasses initiatives that focus on network optimization, metrics strategy, process standardization and implementation of our Service Parts Management (SPM) solution.  Studies are conducted in every region of the world and network changes or improvements are recommended, including where to build new facilities.

The newest parts distribution center in the Cat Parts Network in San Luis Potosi, Mexico went live in November 2013, and recently celebrated its grand opening in June 2014. Located in the heart of Mexico, this 510,000 square foot facility employs more than 150 people and serves four dealers throughout the region.

This facility is the sixth new parts distribution center in the modernization plan, joining four new facilities in the United States as well as one in the United Arab Emirates. The added facilities represent nearly four million square feet of increased capacity to the overall distribution network. All of these facilities are leveraging common systems and processes in addition to Service Parts Management, a global solution that replaces multiple legacy software systems supporting the Cat Parts Network. These facility additions will continue to support the evolution of the Caterpillar supply chain.
