Caterpillar Employee Named to Business Magazine’s Prestigious 40 Under 40 List

December 5, 2016

Crain’s Chicago Business magazine, a weekly business publication available online and in print, annually recognizes leaders in the Chicago area as the top talent in their professions. The “40 Under 40” project spotlights 40 people in business, government, philanthropy, sports, healthcare and the arts who have reached the peak of their industries before their 40th birthday. The 2016 list names an impressive group of professionals including a pizzeria CEO, a director of airline operations, Chance the Rapper and one of our own Caterpillar leaders: Justin Speichinger.

Justin is currently Advanced Engineering Manager for the Excavation Division. His 40 Under 40 feature focuses on his innovative work as an engineer at Caterpillar over the last 15 years, especially the challenges in reinvigorating “mature” products and technologies and the importance of connecting a diverse, global team.

“Justin is an engineer’s engineer, and he has a rare ability to connect people, whether they are millennial or veteran employees, or working on the factory floor or in the C-suite,” said Tom Pellette, group president with responsibility for Construction Industries.

This recognition is shared with Justin’s team in the Excavation Division, too.

"It is an honor and humbling to be mentioned alongside so many accomplished professionals, but this is a team recognition much more so than an individual acknowledgement,” commented Justin. Our teams' successes are the direct result of our diversity of thought and perspective, and our emphasis on collaboration.”
