Caterpillar UK Receives Queen’s Award

Caterpillar UK has been awarded the 2014 Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its achievements in international trade – the UK’s highest accolade for business success. Since the inception of the Queen’s Award in 1966, Caterpillar has been recognized six times, with the first recognition in its inaugural year.

This recognition highlights Caterpillar’s significant contribution to the UK and international trade. Caterpillar established its first major facility outside the United States more than 60 years ago in the UK. Today, the company employs more than 10,000 people in 20 major facilities. The UK is one of the largest bases for Caterpillar outside the US, and the company’s UK businesses export a significant portion of their manufactured products to a wide variety of customers and markets.

“It’s an honor for Caterpillar to be recognized with such a prestigious award focused on achievement in international trade. Caterpillar competes best in a free trade environment. International trade requires us to continually improve our global competitiveness and creates an environment that allows us to better respond to our customers’ needs and to grow our business profitably,” said Silvana Godelaine, general manager, Building Construction Products Division.
