Launched in Fall 2014 by student Sunita Rao, University of Texas Austin's Girl Up campus group is one of the most active in the program. Since joining, she and her 15- member club have taken on the campus' advocacy and fundraising challenges. Sunita sent out an appeal through the Girl Up fundraising page to her families and friends, personally raising more than $1,000 for the program. Why? Because "Girl Up is a unique campaign in that it not only targets education for girls but also leadership development for these young women, which is so important," she explains.
