Decades ago, the Atlantic Forest spanned along most of the Brazilian coast and into parts of Paraguay and Argentina. Today, less than 7% of the original biome remains. To protect against future destruction, the Caterpillar Foundation partners with the Pan American Development Foundation to fund the ConBio Camp Largo project in southern Brazil. This initiative brings together a network of students, teachers, property owners and Caterpillar employees and emphasizes the importance of maintaining biodiversity and its relationship to quality of life. Participants gain a sense of ownership and responsibility for the environmental management and conservation of their land, as well as the tools and skills needed to take action.
