On June 24, 2002 Margie Newton's Minneapolis apartment was damaged in a fire. She was at work when she received a call from her landlord telling her that lightning had struck the roof of their apartment and caught fire. The top floors were completely destroyed. By the time Margie arrived home, the American Red Cross was already there to provide her with supplies she might need and help her cope. Every nine minutes, the Red Cross helps people like Margie after home fires in the U.S.
