The "CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute" award show honors 10 heroes every year. In 2013, Living Lands & Waters founder and Caterpillar Foundation grantee, Chad Pregracke, was named Hero of the Year for his work with the environment. For nine months out of the year, Chad and his 12-person crew live on a barge, traveling around the country, teaching students and cleaning up America's rivers. The barge serves as a floating classroom where they educate visiting students on the harm of polluting our surroundings. The Caterpillar Foundation continues to invest in Living Lands & Waters' floating classrooms to ensure that young people have the knowledge they need to make decisions that will benefit the environment in the future.
