Joyce Nawaguma is a single mother who struggled to pay school tuition for her six children. With three loans from Opportunity International (OI), she created the Batanda Junior School in Kampala, Uganda, which has grown to more than 400 students and employs 25 teachers. Both students and teachers live in an on-campus residence hall and are provided with two meals every school day. Today, Joyce is a positive role model and leader in her community. She plans to open a second school with additional OI loans to ensure that children all over the country have access to quality, affordable education.
