The Nature Conservancy and the Caterpillar Foundation worked together to fund sustainable development of the Colorado River. On March 22, 2014, history was made - the gates at the Colorado River's Morelos Dam released 105,392 acre-feet of water into the long-depleted delta. The water brought relief to surrounding nature, people and economies. On March 25, it reached the border of California and Mexico. Hundreds gathered at the riverbed to welcome the water and celebrate. In the future, new water flow will help create healthier ecosystems and opportunities for new businesses.
