The Caterpillar Visitors Center held its first Antique Equipment Show on Saturday, June 17. Several tractor collectors displayed their antique restorations along Main Street, drawing hundreds of visitors throughout the day during the 2017 Steamboat Days Festival. The collectors who participated came from seven cities throughout the Midwest, and are part of the Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club (ACMOC).
Preserving and promoting the legacy of antique equipment – including educating the public about the role Caterpillar, Holt and Best machines played in shaping the modern world – is the mission of ACMOC, which was formed in 1991 by 11 tractor collectors in Oregon. Today the organization is comprised of 24 local chapters and more than 3,000 members worldwide.
“Our visitors absolutely loved meeting the collectors and hearing stories of their tractor restorations,” said Susan Morton, Caterpillar Visitors Center Manager. “The passion these collectors have is what’s fueled Caterpillar to be the iconic brand it is today, and we’re honored they participated in our first Antique Equipment Show.”
