Joseph E. Creed

Joe Creed is the Vice President of the Finance Services Division. Under his leadership, the division includes Corporate Accounting, Corporate Tax, Corporate Treasury, Economics, Competitive Analysis, Indirect Procurement, Corporate Real Estate, Global Facilities, Strategic Planning, Strategic Investments and the Investor Relations group.  Joe also serves as President of Caterpillar Venture Capital Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar responsible for making strategic, minority interest investments in early-round ventures in new and innovative technologies to support Caterpillar’s diverse business segments.

Creed joined Caterpillar in 1997 and held numerous accounting positions of increasing responsibility including financial planning & analysis manager, corporate forecasting manager, plant controller, and senior business resource manager. He has held positions across multiple divisions of Caterpillar, including Corporate Accounting, Track-Type Tractors Division, Large Power Systems Division and most recently, the Energy & Transportation business segment. He was promoted to chief financial officer for Caterpillar’s Energy & Transportation business segment in 2013.

Creed graduated from Western Illinois University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He completed Caterpillar’s flagship executive leadership program conducted by Stanford University specifically for Caterpillar leaders, dealers and suppliers. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Creed serves on the Western Illinois University Department of Accounting & Finance advisory board; is an Executive Board Member of the Caterpillar Foundation; and is the executive sponsor of the Caterpillar Employee Resource Group known as ADEPT (Abled and Disabled Employees Partnering Together).
