Caterpillar African American Network (CAAN) supports African American employees, and works to enhance Caterpillar's ability to attract, retain, empower and invest in outstanding talent.
The CAAN support system provides hosting for potential new hires, formal & informal mentoring, networking and developmental opportunities.
CAAN supports Caterpillar's strategic goals to build the best team, deliver superior results and be the global leader by creating an inclusive culture that fully engages employees. The group focuses on the development of a global leadership team that reflects the diversity in the markets we serve and the communities in which we work.
CAAN is supported by an advisory board headed by a Caterpillar vice president. The organization consists of five committees, working together to enhance Caterpillar's ability to attract, retain, empower and invest in outstanding talent. These committees include:

CAAN hosts quarterly networking meetings and various developmental workshops that provide the venue and personal access to Caterpillar and community leaders . Everyone is encouraged to attend as it is an opportunity to demonstrate commitment to Caterpillar's success and continuing interest in the efforts made to improve diversity, inclusion and employee engagement in all of its forms.
