“No Textbook Could Teach Me the Skills I’ve Learned During My Internship”

This college student says no textbook could teach her the technical skills she learned during her time interning for Caterpillar. Naydeen Musaitif, an engineering intern, has gotten experiences in three different divisions in a little over one year and says her time as an intern has been valuable.

“The learning opportunities and challenges in my internship prepared me for afuture as an industrial engineer and allowed me to grow as a student,” says Naydeen, “I’ve been a student for years, but Caterpillar allowed me to apply the knowledge I gained from textbooks in real life situations.”

Currently Naydeen works on Caterpillar’s Global Quality team, but she began her journey as a Logistics Planning Analyst where she worked on several projects including identifying and executing supply chain procurement, and ensuring orderly delivery to our suppliers. While she says she appreciates the variety in tasks, what’s even better are the people she works with.

“I’ve noticed that no matter the location I am working in, the people are all equally supportive,” said Naydeen, “My coworkers always want to see me to learn and succeed. Having this support system played a big role in my continued love for Caterpillar.

The support came as a bit of surprise for Naydeen, as she had a previous perceptioninterns weren’t taken seriously. She says she was worried her internship would involve coffee runs, but what she’s found is that Caterpillar provides valuable work that lead to enterprise success.

“Caterpillar is offering me more than just a successful future. Cat is my gateway to making a positive impact on the world. The work I do has a global impact which has really inspired me to work for Cat.”
