“The main reason I chose Caterpillar was for the career opportunities that a global company could offer. I was impressed by the fact that I could have different careers in the same company.” - Luciana F.
At Caterpillar, you can build what matters to you. For Luciana, that meant building a lifelong career, as she recently took on a new role as the first female facility manager for the Campo Largo facility in Brazil, where small and compact wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, mini excavators and skid-steer loaders are produced. The products made in Campo Largo support customers in Brazil and around the world.
Throughout her 23-year career with Caterpillar, Luciana took advantage of all the opportunities to develop herself personally and professionally. She started her career at Caterpillar in 1999 as a co-op student in the parts division. She held several roles in different departments there, her last role being a supply chain manager for the Piracicaba, Brazil facility. Now, she looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that leading Campo Largo will bring, as she will be the facility manager for a plant producing 40 machines a day with 1,000 employees.
“I love the opportunity to be here at this incredible moment of production ramp up and, at the same time, with so many global challenges in the supply chain. There are numerous strategies to put in place to collect good results. Also, I’m excited about the possibility to work with this amazing team and be able to impact their careers and lives,” she said.
Making an impact on the next generation of world builders is important to Luciana. She hopes to inspire her team members to work toward long-term careers with Caterpillar by applying their talents to achieve both personal and company wide goals, just as she has done.
Luciana says to be a great Caterpillar employee, one must be passionate about what they do, excited about solving problems and pursuing improvements. “Don’t be “comfortable” with the current scenario you are executing, look for new opportunities and help the entire chain, end to end, to solve issues and deliver results to the company, not only for your own area.”
She is also a strong supporter of Caterpillar’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), an employee resource group that partners with the business for sustainable attraction, development, and retention of the female workforce. WIN builds on the strength of women and men to create empowered connections across Caterpillar, driving personal and professional growth and delivering business impact. Luciana hopes to be an inspiration to other women seeking leadership roles within the company.
