Customer Services Representative // Challenge Undertaker

Joyce Chen has more than 10 years of experience in credit and collection within the financial industry. She currently works as a Customer Services Representative III at Caterpillar Financial Services Malaysia (CFSM).

She started her professional career in banks handling consumer house loans. During the financial crisis of the late 1990s, her and many others were moved to the collection department. She says this move gave her the opportunity to work on recovery and properties auction.

When Joyce was ready to make a move, she said she saw an ad in the paper for a Credit Analyst position with Caterpillar. The opportunity initially attracted her because of the location and the chance to gain new exposure.

After five years in the Credit Analyst role, Joyce transitioned to a Customer Service Representative where she says she’s gained valuable experience in various areas of customer relations, legal processes, repossession and the sale of equipment.

As she looks back on her career, Joyce encourages others that there are always new challenges and opportunities to be exposed to new things as long as you keep an open mind and a learning attitude.

 “Embrace change and do not feel afraid to take up new challenges. At Caterpillar, opportunities are everywhere, you should not shy away from taking on challenges to give yourself the stretch to hone your skills,” Joyce shares.
