Professional Development Extends Beyond the Workplace for One Intern

When Jeanna Sujanani began the interview process, she saw Caterpillar as a corporate organization; however, after speaking with several recruiters, she realized it was much more. She quickly accepted an accounting internship position, and says she’s enjoyed the professional, educational, and personal growth that started on day one.

“As an intern, I enjoy coming to work because I feel like I can make an impact daily,” said Sujanani, “I leave at the end of the day feeling like I added value and contributed to the bigger picture.”

During her internship, Jeanna participated in her division’s intern case competition. Through this competition she was encouraged to think creatively in order to develop a solution to improve recruitment data management. The opportunity to lead and conduct research and meeting with various stakeholders was just the cherry on top for Sujanani.

Beyond the breadth opportunities and variety of projects, Sujanani says the people she works with at Caterpillar have helped make her internship experience satisfying.

“I can confidently say I’ve developed meaningful professional relationships with my supervisor, team and many others within the organization.”

Sujanani says she has extended her learning to functional areas beyond her division, offering her opinion and creative ideas, and interacting with individuals throughout the enterprise, which has allowed her to develop in her career.
