On March 2, 2017, current and past leaders and employees of the Building Construction Products Division (BCP) Clayton facility gathered together to celebrate its 25th anniversary of the first small wheel loader shipped from the plant.
As part of the celebration, a fully restored Cat® IT28B – the first machine shipped from the facility 25 years ago – as well as a special anniversary edition 938M small wheel loader were on display. The facility also recognized past and current employees, specifically employees with 25 years of service in Clayton.
“I am extremely proud of all the work our employees put into producing these machines for our customers every day,” said Vic Baluis, Clayton facility manager. “Every employee has played a critical role in Caterpillar’s success here in Clayton over the past 25 years. Looking forward, we are committed to continuing to meet our customers’ needs every day by developing, innovating and producing the highest quality products in our industry.”
In honor of its 25th anniversary, the Clayton facility is in the process of manufacturing 25 special anniversary edition 938M small wheel loaders. One of the special edition machines was on display during the celebration, while a second machine will be in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 7-11 at ConExpo, an international trade show for construction industries. During ConExpo, Building Construction Products (BCP) Division Vice President Ken Hoefling will present the keys of the special anniversary edition 938M to a customer.
“Caterpillar’s commitment to our construction industry customers is unwavering,” said Hoefling. “The Clayton facility has ensured we are delivering quality product to our customers time and time again. The industry has continued to evolve over the past 25 years, and the BCP leadership has made investments in Clayton to ensure we are able to meet – and exceed – the needs of our customers.”
