Caterpillar Foundation President Michele Sullivan honored as a CAREERS & the disABLED's 2017 Employee of the Year

Michele Sullivan, Caterpillar's director of Corporate Social Innovation and Caterpillar Foundation president, was recently honored by CAREERS & the disABLED magazine as a 2017 Employee of the Year. For a quarter of a century, CAREERS & the disABLED has been acknowledging and celebrating the personal and professional achievements of outstanding individuals with disabilities via its Annual Employee of the Year Awards. 

Michele has held a number of positions in her 29 years at Caterpillar, but in her most recent role managing the Caterpillar Foundation, Michele has become well known for her global expertise and sustainable and collaborative approach to philanthropic investing.  

Under her leadership, the Caterpillar Foundation launched its collaborative impact platform known as  Together.Stronger.™ – uniting businesses, non-profits, government, and citizens to combine their strengths to alleviate poverty for millions of people worldwide. 

Most recently, Michele was honored to give a TED talk at TEDWomen 2016, becoming the first Caterpillar employee to do so. She spoke candidly about the challenges she has overcome in life, highlighting the importance of accepting and helping others. Michele expressed, “No one is defined by what you see. We all deserve a chance to be exactly who we are...no matter how big or little the difficulties in front of us."  View Michele's talk here.
