
Mary H. Bell is vice president for Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) Division, based in Cary, N.C. BCP is a global organization responsible for designing, manufacturing and supporting Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and work tools.
Since joining Caterpillar in 1981, Bell has progressed through a variety of positions in product support, remanufacturing, marketing and logistics. In the mid-80s, she served as general parts manager for Yancey Bros. Co., the Cat dealer in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996, Bell became the Machine Business Manager for Caterpillar’s Latin American Division. From 1999 to 2002, she led the company’s Service Support department. In 2002, she was named general manager of Caterpillar Distribution Services, responsible for leading Caterpillar’s worldwide parts distribution strategy and parts operations network. In 2004, the Caterpillar Board of Directors named Bell as vice president with responsibility for Caterpillar’s Logistics Division. The Logistics Division was responsible for serving the supply chain strategy and design and logistics needs of Caterpillar, and providing logistics services for more than 50 external client companies.
In December of 2007, Bell assumed her current role as vice president of the Building Construction Products Division.
Bell has a B.B.A. from the University of Iowa and is a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Executive Program and Northwestern University’s CEO Perspective Program. She is currently completing the Joint Leadership Development Program, co-developed by Caterpillar, GE, Boeing, IBM, 3M and Procter and Gamble.
Bell is on HNI Corporation’s Board of Directors and serves as the Audit Committee Chair. She is a member of Ernst & Young’s Tapestry Network. She also serves on the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the North Carolina State University College of Management's Board of Advisors.
