Caterpillar Recognised for People and Skills Efforts in the UK
Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) operations at Desford in Leicestershire has been named winner of the People and Skills category of the Manufacturer of the Year awards.
These annual awards are organised and hosted by The Manufacturer magazine, the UK's premiere manufacturing publication providing manufacturing news, articles and insights while promoting best practices in the manufacturing industry.
The People and Skills award was the most heavily entered category and this accolade recognises the commitment of BCP to their people and skills development.
Simon Collins, Caterpillar's Future Talent Development Manager in EAME, commented, "The investment in our people and skills has contributed to the transformation of BCP's UK facilities into ones characterised as safe, environmentally responsible and inclusive workplaces, with significant focus on learning and development. It also bears testimony to effective labour relations, as our constructive relationship with the trade union at Desford has helped ensure the success of the major people initiatives implemented over the past three years."
Caterpillar was also recently named in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list, compiled by the National Apprenticeship Service and City & Guilds, which recognises excellence in businesses that employ apprentices. In addition, BCP Desford was highly commended for its work in the Large Employer of Apprentices category.
