Burnie, Australia Facility Named “Employer of Choice”

The Caterpillar Underground Mining facility in Burnie, Australia was recently recognized as a top employer. The facility, along with 13 other local businesses and organizations throughout Tasmania, the island state of Australia, was recognized as a Tasmanian Employer of Choice organization for 2012.
"This is a huge accomplishment for the organization," Managing Director of Caterpillar Underground Mining Dan Barich said. "The hard work of everyone, past and present has made this award possible."
These businesses were awarded for offering challenging and rewarding careers, strong leadership as well as support to maintain skilled employees.
"Great workplaces that can attract and retain highly skilled, productive and creative people will drive innovation and economic growth for Tasmania," said the Tasmanian Minister of Economic Development, David O'Byrne. "We will continue to work to grow our economy and it is great to see 14 more businesses realizing that they can make a significant contribution to this goal too."
The facility was specifically awarded for its strong diversity program, leadership and human resource management and the expectation that staff will contribute ideas and suggestions for improvement.
"Caterpillar has become the largest organization within the Tasmanian North-West region," said Fabrication Manager Andrew Layton. "Being recognized as Employer of Choice for Tasmania on our first attempt was very well deserved. This is one of the greatest accomplishments I've seen the company achieve in my 16 years of employment and I couldn't be prouder to be part of the journey."
