Human Resources Professional Development Program

The Human Resources (HR) Professional Development Program provides the foundation needed for success and leadership in Human Resources at Caterpillar. The HR professional will begin a career with Caterpillar as an active participant in a three-year program performing a variety of complex assignments within our HR community.

Program Goals:

• Become familiar with and understand the functions and responsibilities of HR within Caterpillar
• Provide a broad learning base that includes shared services, global process owners, business units and focused facilities throughout the U.S.

Sessions

The HR professional typically will spend one year in a business unit, one year as a global process owner and one year in a shared services environment. Applicants accepted into the HR Professional Development Program must be willing to relocate. At the end of the rotational program, the HR professional will be placed into a final assignment.

Coaching and Career Development

HR professionals attend an on-boarding orientation to the HR Professional Development Program during the first few weeks of employment. They are assigned to various business units across the enterprise and receive an additional orientation to each specific business unit.

• Peer mentor from the HR Professional Development Program
• Experienced HR professional mentor assigned to each employee
• Virtual team meetings monthly
• Scheduled visits to various facilities
• Informal team social activities
• Opportunity to participate in various senior HR manager meetings and interact with senior HR managers

Eligibility Requirements:

• Minimum GPA: 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
• Bachelor's degree in (preferred, but not limited to): human resources, communications, business administration, business management, etc.
• Interest in human resources
• Desire to lead
• Willingness to relocate during the three-year program and afterwards
• Effective communicator
• Teamwork-oriented
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
